6000m of drilling reached at Black
Angel Project in Greenland
1/08/2006
Press Release
Angus & Ross PLC (AGU) ('Angus & Ross' or the 'Company')
wishes to bring shareholders up to date with progress at its exploration
programme on the wholly owned Black Angel zinc/lead property in West
Greenland.
The Company's original objective this season had been
to drill between 6,000 and 7,000m. By the end of July, due to the
efficiency of the drilling crews and favourable weather, a total
of 6,000m of diamond drilling has been achieved and 47
holes have
been completed.
Subject to continuing favourable weather conditions
the board intends to extend the current drilling programme for a
further period of at least six weeks. Four target areas, Ark, Nunngarut
Plateau, Myers East, and South Lakes Glacier, have been drilled so
far.
There has been particular focus on an extensive base metal sulphide
outcrop discovered last year, termed the South Lakes Glacier Showing.
The zinc and lead sulphide mineralisation (sphalerite and galena)
has now been traced along strike for almost 700m (previously reported
500m) and is open at both ends (disappearing under glacial moraine).
28 holes have so far been drilled in the South Lakes Glacier Showing,
totalling over 4,000m. Each of these holes has intersected several
sulphide horizons, with apparent individual widths varying between 0.2
and 5 metres. This target is currently being drilled on a 50m
grid with at least 3 holes per grid line being tested. Two
hundred and fifty samples from mineralised cores in the first 19
holes have
now been prepared and sent for assay. About half of these come from
holes drilled on the South Lakes Glacier Showing. This is a continuing
process and first assay results are expected in late August.
(The programme is run by Black Angel Mining
Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary
of
Angus & Ross plc headed by CEO Andrew Zemek.)
