Further Assay Results from Black Angel Drilling Programme

12/10/2006

Press Release

Angus & Ross PLC (AGU) (“Angus & Ross” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the third set of assay results from this summer’s drilling programme at its Black Angel zinc/lead property in West Greenland.  The half-core testing programme run by ALS Chemex in Vancouver has been completed, with 632 samples having been tested. A further 71 samples, including bulk samples, channel samples and whole core samples will be assayed at the laboratory of Wardell Armstrong International (“WAI”) in Cornwall as part of the metallurgical testing programme. Of particular interest will be the results from dense media separation test work, as it is believed that the new deposits may be amenable to low cost upgrading prior to concentrate flotation.

  • 632 samples from 2006 drilling programme assayed, 71 results pending
  • Mineralized intersections encountered in 42 out of 44  Glacier Zone drill holes and 11 out of 15 Ark Zone drill holes
  • High grade sulphide intersections of considerable thickness  encountered, e.g. hole 06GLA037 grading 2.7% lead and 7.9% zinc over 13.62 metres
  • Geological modelling work commencing and civil engineering tenders in course of  preparation

A revised resource estimate incorporating the results of the new discoveries will be prepared by WAI and is expected in November; geological modelling work has already commenced. From a preliminary assessment of the results, it appears that resources amenable to open pit mining are being defined at both the Glacier and ARK deposits, part of which could possibly produce early cash flow.   However, most of the Glacier Zone would have to be mined by underground methods.

Experienced civil engineering contractors visited the property in September and the Company awaits specific quotes for the construction of access roads to both the Glacier and ARK deposits from the top end of the Nunngarut tunnel which leads down to sea level. These quotations will form part of the feasibility study planned to commence later this year.

Robin Andrews, Chairman of Angus & Ross, commented“I am pleased that this third and final set of assay results, mainly from the Glacier discovery, continues to return the high grades shown in the previously announced results. We now look forward to the results of the current metallurgical testing programme and a preliminary resource statement presently being compiled by the company’s consultants.”

(The programme is run by Black Angel Mining Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Angus & Ross plc headed by CEO Andrew Zemek.)
