Drilling starts at the Black Angel Project in Greenland

Press Release
Angus & Ross PLC (AGU)
(“Angus & Ross” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the start of its 2006 exploration programme at its Black Angel zinc/lead property in West Greenland. Two drilling rigs are now in full 24-hour operation and the first 75m hole has been completed. The rigs are expected to drill up to 60 diamond holes totalling between 6000-7000m.
A 17-person team of geologists, drillers and support personnel has been assembled on site. A further 7 experts are expected to visit the property periodically over the summer. The team is based on the m/s Arctic Pioneer which is docked in the Affarlikassa Fjord facing the former Black Angel mine. A chartered Bell 212 helicopter is available to support the drilling crews and in particular to move the drill rigs rapidly from site to site. A satellite communications installation provides telephone and internet connections. The first laboratory results, when available, will be assessed in the UK by consultants Wardell Armstrong International and conclusions emailed back to the drilling team.
The drill targets will include the “satellite” discoveries made by the mine’s previous owners, Cominco and Boliden, but not developed by them, and the potentially significant outcrop of massive sulphide ore identified by Angus & Ross during last year’s field season, which was uncovered following the retreat of the South Lakes glacier over recent years. In recent days, a more detailed inspection of the outcrop revealed a 50m extension due to the continuing retreat of the glacier. This mineralisation now extends for over 300m and will be drilled as a priority target. Grab samples taken last year returned 30% Zn and 20% Pb.
Robin Andrews, Chairman of Angus & Ross, said:
'I am pleased that our intensive exploration programme has now started with two rigs in operation and our first hole drilled. The exploration is in the hands of an experienced and dedicated team, many of whom spent years at Black Angel when it was an operating mine. Shareholders will be updated on progress at regular intervals and as meaningful assay results become available.'
