Board of Directors of Angus & Ross plc
■ Robin Andrews M.A., Chairman. Robin established Angus & Ross plc as a public company in 1999 and as Chairman oversaw its initial growth and listing on AIM. He became acting Chief Executive in 2002 to drive through its repositioning as a gold and base metals exploration group. He brings extensive experience of financing resource companies and projects. He began his business career as an investment analyst with de Zoete & Gorton in London before spending 30 years in investment banking with AE Ames, James Capel and Mead & Co. Robin graduated from Edinburgh University having studied civil engineering and economics.
■ Andrew Zemek M.A., Chief Operating Officer. Andrew has over 25 years of experience in the metals and mining industry. He is a former chairman of the Association of Mining Analysts in London and a former director of the mining consultancy Norwest Corporation Ltd. During his career history he worked for many years for KGHM Polish Copper Ltd in London as a Managing Director and took an active part in the listing of this Polish copper and silver producer on the London Stock Exchange. Andrew has an MA in Economics from Warsaw School of Economics
■ Paul Williams M.A., FCA, Finance Director and Company Secretary. A graduate from Cambridge in French, German and Economics, Paul is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He trained with his family firm, moving upon qualification to Ernst & Young. Subsequently he was co-founder of his own accountancy practice, which he left after 22 years in 1998 to assist in bringing a North Wales based pharmaceutical company to list on AIM. He joined the board of Angus & Ross in October 2004. He is a member of the London Stock Exchange’s AIM Advisory Group .
■ Tim Daffern, Director of Mining. Mr. Daffern is a Chartered Mining Engineer who gained professional qualifications in Australia, Canada, and at the Camborne School of Mines. He has 19 years of international experience in both surface and underground operations. Before joining Wardell Armstrong as Technical Director, he gained practical experience in operations management, mine development, contract management and mine economics with organizations including BHP, Newcrest, BPB, and at the South Crofty Tin mine in Cornwall.
■ Tom Elder PhD, Non-Executive
Director. Tom has over 40 years of international experience in exploration
and mining in more than 20 countries, for precious metals, base metals
and diamonds. His previous employment includes working for RTZ (now
RioTinto plc), BP Minerals Ltd and Cominco. In 1966-67 he was the
project leader in Greenland of the team that discovered what subsequently
became the Black Angel mine. Tom is currently the President and the
CEO of Mano River Resources
■ Christopher R Innis , Non-Executive
Director. Mr Innis is a director of Mining Communications, the publisher of Mining Journal, having led the successful management buy-in team in 2003. Earlier he had a successful career in corporate finance with Hambros Bank before becoming Director of Corporate Strategy of EMAP plc, where he played a major role in the achievement of the substantial growth of this diversified media company. Mr. Innis was also a former director of AIM Resources - which is developing the Perkoa zinc project in Burkina Faso and seeking to bring it into production - and through his involvement with the Mining Journal he has built up a considerable knowledge of the mining industry.
